Video of how to assemble and connect a Precolumn MicroFilter
The IDEX Precolumn MicroFilter assembly is a convenient and efficient way of protecting your HPLC column and delicate microfluidic systems from foreign particulate matters. All this while avoiding introducing significant volumes into the flow path that could risk influencing the sample integrity by excessive mixing and dilution with the transport liquid.
Watch the video below to learn how to correctly assemble the Precolumn MicroFilter and how to mount it into your flow path or connect it to your HPLC column. Or follow the steps below for initial set-up. The video features the M-555-1 item, but the same principle is applicable to all Precolumn MicroFilters.
- Finger tighten the preassembled unit into the inlet port of your column.
- Remove the female nut and the MicroFerrule.
- For MicroTight Tubing Sleeves: Insert your tubing into an appropriately sized MicroTight tubing sleeve – 25um – 51um (.001” – .002”) greater than the OD of your capillary tubing. Make sure your fused silica tubing does not extend past the end of the tubing sleeve.
- For 1/16” OD tubing: Direct connect.
- Finger tighten the nut and ferrule back onto the unit, while continuing to firmly push the tubing or tubing and sleeve assembly against the bottom of the receiving port.
