Extensive upgrade of degasser core technology
The DEGASi® program of stand-alone inline degassers manufactured by Biotech Fluidics has for decades been delivering top performing gas removal from liquids within fluidic systems for flow rates ranging from 25 µL/min up to 1 L/min. Recently the entire product program has gone through a full revision and extensive internal technology upgrade, whereby the improved DEGASi® NG inline degasser family was born.
New DEGASi® NG family of inline degassers
Specifically, the enhanced DEGASi® NG constructions incorporate fifth generation StabiliX™ vacuum pumps and include the latest vacuum control technology with closed-loop regulation and advanced leak detection. This results in superior vacuum stability, a lower acoustic profile for quite operation and approximately 30% longer service life. Every model in the DEGASi® NG platform also comes with a standardised error control output that automatically can signal to an external host system software, should the degasser not be functioning as expected. The popular slim housings of previous models have been retained, thus maintaining a minimum impact on occupied bench space.
The upgrade of the core degasser technology within the DEGASi® NG platform is accompanied by the launch of several new degasser models. Among the most prominent are DEGASi® Analytic NG, and DEGASi® LifeSci NG, plus the recently introduced DEGASi® FlatFilm NG, which all fulfil unique requirements in different specialised application areas.
Impact on previous degasser models
With the launch of DEGASi® NG, several of the older models have become obsolete, but in all these cases modernised alternatives are available within the DEGASi® NG family.
- The DEGASi® Plus series has completely merged into the DEGASi® NG family. All product numbers and the external design are kept intact, thus facilitating a smooth transition to improved degassing functionality.
- The entire series of DEGASi® Integration has been discontinued. The standardised error output from all models in the DEGASi® NG family do accomplish the same type of communication with an external system software while the housing occupies a smaller bench space.
- The DEGASi® BioCompact degasser has been discontinued. Instead, Biotech Fluidics offer the DEGASi® Analytic NG degasser which contain the same competent degassing chamber but a significantly improved degassing control system with longer service life.
All other models are available as previously and keep their product numbers, and the internal technology upgrade is indicated by the addition of “NG” to the product names.
Parts for maintenance of the discontinued degasser models will still be available for some time although this may include a transition to the modern DEGASi® Vacuum Controller products that incorporates fifth generation vacuum pumps and include the latest vacuum control technology.
